It's been a little over two months since SWF2023 took place at Finlandshuset here in Stockholm. We heard fantastic stories, made incredible new friends, and connected with writers across all the genre's. We're still giddy over all the participants, faculty and staff that made SWF2023 such a wild success. Thank you everyone!
SWF23 kicked off with a Swedish tradition: A “tips runda,” where everyone got to know each other by breaking into teams and answering literary-themed questions. (Winners got bragging rights and chocolate.) We welcomed new faces to our faculty: authors Jeff Bens (literary fiction), and Johnny Shaw (crime/thriller), along with expert editor, April Eberhardt, among others. For the sixth year running, 100% of our survey respondents said they’d recommend us to a friend and that makes us incredibly happy!
We've had a little break since then in order to catch our breaths, but we haven't been completely idle, and even now we're already busily planning SWF2024.
We're researching and contacting faculty, working out the program and schedule, settling on a venue, and putting all that we've learned since 2017 into practice. Things are shaping up quickly, and we're getting pretty excited - as this year progresses, we hope you'll be just as enthusiastic as we are. We can tell you right now - you'll want to be sure to reserve August 23-25, 2024 in your calendars today, so you don't risk missing out on the festival next year! It's going to be absolutely phenomenal.
So what else is new? We're also ben actively revamping both the website and the SWF webshop, much has already been updated with our 2024 theme (Cranberry is the official color, though some of us may stubbornly be calling it Lingonberry, while others have mentioned something about red wine. Call it what you will, it's the theme of the year.

Webshop - All New Items in Time for the Holidays!

The SWF Webshop is open, and all designs updated with our 2024 logo (we're calling it cranberry, but some of us insist on lingonberry, while others are sticking with red wine.)
All purchases support the Stockholm Writers Festival, with 100% of the profits going directly to the festival costs. So, this holiday season, be sure to outfit yourself, your friends and family, and even your pets with quality SWF branded goods from our webshop.
Be sure to place your orders early to ensure delivery before the holidays. We've got hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, coffee and tea mugs, and even a beer stein. There's really something for everyone!

SWF24 First Five Pages Prize Update
|
|
|
With a new festival year, comes a new Stockholm Writers Festival First 5 Pages Prize! This year's prize will open for submissions on January 1st, 2024 and will remain open until March 10th.
Last year's prize was absolutely incredible, resulting in a record number of submissions (863!) and this year promises to be another banner year. We can't say enough good things about the stories we were exposed to, and the top three submissions were all out of this world. We're polishing up our reading glasses, in eager anticipation of this year's prize, so it's time for you to start polishing up your first five pages in order to blow us away with your words! We'll definitely remind you as the contest opening date approaches.
