The winners of this year’s First Pages Prize were revealed tonight in Stockholm during the Stockholm Writers Festival. Vice Mayor of Culture, Jonas Nabbedo, presented the prize, with this year’s judge Paul McVeigh and Clydette de Groot of The de Groot Foundation.

All three winners flew to Sweden to receive their prize and stay to attend the entire conference. Congratulations to this year’s winners and to all entrants. We wish all well with their future literary projects.

1st place: We Make Them Pay by Sara Johnson Allen (United States) - literary fiction

2nd place: Seagull Pie by Sandra Jensen (United Kingdom) - creative non-fiction

3rd place: Mississippi Goddam by Sarah Fuchs (United States) - literary fiction

Honorable Mention: C8 by Eleanor Roth (United States) - science fiction

Honorable Mention: The Trailing Edge by Lori Jakiela (United States) - upmarket women’s fiction

Thank you to The de Groot Foundation for generously providing prize money and travel stipends for the finalists. Winner Sara Johnson Allen received 1000USD, 2nd place Sandra Jensen received 750USD and 3rd place Sarah Fuchs received 500USD.
